Penn Players was formed in 1967. Our first play was "The Chalk Garden" on 14th-16th November 1967 and this was followed by "The House on the Cliff" on 7th-9th May 1968.

The Society prospered and at its peak was putting on three plays a year. However, fluctuating membership resulted in this being reduced to two and that is the case today. We still meet in the same hall and perform on the same stage. It is now The Penn Community Hall, United Reformed Church, Penn Road, Wolverhampton.

"The House on the Cliff" was a popular choice for both audiences and performers alike. We presented it for a second time on 24th-26th March 1988 and a third time on 23rd-24th January 2004!

In 2004 we were given a grant to replace the old stage flats and some of the lighting equipment. We have since developed this and stage lighting is now computer controlled! We are now busy working on sound.

The Society is run by a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and a committee of four, all elected into office at the Annual General Meeting. We even have our own constitution!
